USA Health Maps show inadequate basic health care provision

Posted by: Def    Tags:  ESRI, health    Posted date:  April 17, 2012  |  No comment

ESRI has created a very interesting and impressive map combination that addresses the health care provision issue throughout the United States.

In this double-faced map, you can see the numbers of doctor’s offices related to the population of each county to the left, and the relative availability of primary health care providers to the right. As you will see in this map, there is huge difference in health care provision.

For example, Liberty County, Florida had zero doctor’s offices in 2009, while maintaining a population of 8,000 people. At the same time, in Georgetown County, South Carolina with a population of 60,000 there were 90 doctor’s offices in 2009, which means 674 people per doctor’s office.
